Everyone Counts!

I am here in Brussels facilitating a workshop for 30 international consultants who hail from countries including Ethiopia, Mexico, Ghana, Switzerland, the US, Zambia, South Africa, and others. My organization, JSI, has a contract with a WHO (World Health Organization) initiative called the Health Metrics Network. We are basically implementing the work of WHO in health information systems strengthening. Now you're like...what the heck is health information systems strengthening? Think about data- vital records, disease surveillance. How many babies were born this year? How many people died this year? How many people were infected with X this year? Why do we need to know this data? This data helps governments make better decisions about health planning. During this 3.5 day orientation, we are informing the consultants of their future roles in the processes that HMN has outlined in how we will provide assistance to some 70 countries in improving and strengthening their health information sysytems. I think the video attached will explain what I'm talking about better than I can! Might also help you see a bit more about what I do!
