Welcome to Malawi- don't break wind!

Arrived in sunny Malawi "the warm heart of Africa" yesterday after quite a journey. Journey that started by trying to get out of Boston a day early (Tuesday) to beat the worse storm on Wed. Made it out luckily, crashed in D.C. for a night, left for Johannesburg on Wed, spent the night in Joburg on Thursday, and flew to Malawi on Friday.

Was picked up by our driver, Gift, (whose daughter is named Favor- an interesting name game here in Malawi)! Arrived at the office for a meeting and then to hotel to unpack.

A few friends have kindly sent me a link to the most recent international news coming out of Malawi- which in comparison to things happening in Egypt, Yemen, and the like, seems quite trite. But here it is in all it's glory. Yes in Malawi, it might just be a misdemeanor offense to break wind in public!

The cast of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me was just mocking this in their latest podcast! I couldn't believe it!
