Christmas in Dar

This trip is the first in my memory that I have been in the Southern Hemisphere for the Christmas season.  I must say it's a little weird.  It was 86 degrees and sunny today!  No snow, no xmas carols pumping in all the stores (though I think I heard some in the hotel the other day), no marathons of classic xmas movies on t.v.  I mean I loved that I was able to sit outside at the pool today and get some sun and swim, but it's an interesting experience for a girl who grew up in Illinois with cold snowy Decembers.

Our hotel has made a SERIOUS effort though to deck the halls.  I've taken a few shots of some of the decorations from the lobby's Xmas tree and a real homemade gingerbread house, to the faux fireplace (I guess Santa is going to travel down it?), to the "Season's Greeting" sign and lit palm trees in the stairwells. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...in Dar es Salaam :)
