So my name is Erin. Relatively simple, right? You would think, but in other languages it is so difficult. My parents did not name me with my international career in mind! Here are a few things I have been called here in Tanzania and other locales:
In Tanzania: Ellen, Helen, Irene, Eric (as an aside, when Tim and I go to Zanzibar they usually call him Tina and me Eric :)
In Mexico: Ereeene
In the Dominican Republic: Elena
It’s gotten to the point where I will really just respond to whatever. And my last name! Ha- let’s not even try!
